Mom Pregnant With Rare Twin Diagnosis Makes Brave Decision Against Doctor’s Advice

As most parents know, life likes to throws us curveballs when we least expect it! Whether that’s something silly like forgetting your kid’s soccer cleats before a game, or something more serious like losing a job right before a big medical problem, you can always count on something unexpected to happen. This was also the case when Lisa and Dare Hansen went in for their ultrasound weeks after discovering Lisa was pregnant. Doctors took one look at the screen and told the couple that they were expecting twins! However, the twins they were expecting were actually called “monochorionic monoamniotic” (MOMO). Despite the shocking news, they took a deep breath and remained confident that they wanted to be parents more than anything else in the world.

While the Hansens were initially thrilled when they found out they were going to bring twins into the world, their happiness soon deflated after the doctors broke their nerve-racking news. Lisa explained what happened inside the doctor’s office, “We were blessed with twins! Then we found out they were rare monochorionic monoamniotic twins! What an emotional roller coaster.” The doctors spent a long time warning Lisa and Dare about the dangers of carrying the twins — but the couple remained strong and pledged to bring their children to the world no matter what.

Sadly, the rest of the pregnancy didn’t go much better. Lisa was admitted to the inpatient ward of the hospital seven long weeks before her C-section. But that wasn’t the worst part. After the birth of their twin girls, River and Piper, the family was forced to stay in the hospital for an additional seven weeks. This was a rough start to life, but with Lisa and Dare’s unconditional love and devotion, we’re confident little River and Piper will be in good hands.
