2 Years Post Breakup Man Sends Letter To Ex’s House, Then She Realizes It’s Not For Her

Rebecca Hernandez and her ex-husband Frankie began dating very young while still in high school. Perhaps the inexperience of youth was their downfall, because their marriage just didn’t last.

They never had kids, but two years after their breakup Rebecca got a letter in the mail that wasn’t intended for her.

However, it didn’t take long for Rebecca to realize the letter was for their old mutual “roommate” – who was still very much a part of Rebecca’s life!

Was Frankie in love with someone else the entire time they were married?

Let’s just say this adorable tale of “puppy love” is one you won’t soon forget.

When Apollo the doggy was just a puppy, he found a home in the arms of newlyweds Rebecca and Frankie. They lived in California at the time, where Frankie was stationed as a Marine.

Some folks tend to favor one pet over another, and the same is true of dogs – they’ll bond with their favorite human! Apollo adored Frankie, and the two were absolutely inseparable. In fact, Apollo would get jealous anytime Rebecca cuddled up next to her husband.

After the couple broke up, Rebecca took Apollo back to her hometown in Mercedes, Texas. Frankie stayed behind in Houston.

They left a heartbroken doggy in their wake, but that was all about to change when “the letter” arrived.

Frankie never forgot about his best friend. He sorely misses his dog, probably even more than he misses his ex!

“Those two were always up to no good. They would wrestle with each other constantly. I felt like their mom, always telling them to behave.”

When a mysterious letter arrived in the mail this year, Rebecca knew exactly what it was. It was addressed to Apollo Hernandez, and it included a card with a photo of a cute pup in a pirate outfit!

To let his pooch know just how much he is loved and missed, Frankie sends Apollo a birthday card every April 1st. This is definitely no April Fool’s joke!

The soldier wanted to make it up to his furry pal for not being there on his birthday. Rebecca was so moved by the card, that she posted a snapshot of it on Twitter:

“My ex and I split up two years ago and he still sends our dog, Apollo, a birthday card and gift card to petco on his birthday.”

Rebecca used the hashtag #NoBadBlood to indicate that there are truly no hard feelings between the two grown-ups!

“It’s the best. We both love Apollo. He is our child. It sounds silly to people who aren’t animal lovers, but to us he is family. Our family.”

Frankie actually still sends Rebecca cards for her own birthday and the holidays, too. Wow, what an incredibly nice guy!

In case you’re wondering what the card says, here’s a heartfelt little snippet:

“Watching you grow up from a puppy that fit in the palm of my hand to the overgrown big dog that you are now was nothing short of an adventure, and I loved every moment of it. There is honestly not one time where thinking of you has failed to put a smile on my face. I will forever be grateful to you for that. There isn’t a day that I don’t think of you.”

Awww, what an adorable story! Although love didn’t work out for this young couple, their “baby” is still getting the best of both worlds – two doting parents!
